Proud WITS Partner: The South Street Seaport Museum ⛵️
The South Street Seaport Museum has generously opened up several of their signature tours, including their notorious “Sinister Secrets of the Seaport” walking tour, for WITS attendees. Two of the museum’s historic ships, the 1885 tall ship Wavertree and the 1908 Lightship Ambrose, will also be available to tour. Additionally, a printmaking workshop at Bowne & Co. will allow WITS attendees to experience the magic of the museum’s 19th-century letterpress, one of the oldest in the city.
Founded in 1967, the South Street Seaport Museum “preserves and interprets the history of New York as a great port city.” In addition to its fleet of historic vessels, the museum is home to an extensive collection of art, books, archival materials and other artifacts that reflect New York City’s storied maritime past.
Thank you to the South Street Seaport Museum for all they do in helping preserve Lower Manhattan’s rich history, and for helping us bring the 2025 WITS Travel Creator Summit to life.
Stay tuned to meet more of our partners!

Have you noticed how Lower Manhattan is turning into a bagel haven? 🥯💖
Ess-a-Bagel’s newest location has been up and running on Broadway for a few weeks now, joining Leo’s, Apollo, Liberty and more excellent downtown bagel spots. Keep ‘em comin!

Next week, the annual WITS Travel Summit touches down in Lower Manhattan ✈️
For five days, over 500 established and aspiring travel content creators will be calling the neighborhood home – exploring all of the culture, history and beauty downtown New York City has to offer. We’ve been working hard to make #WITSDTNYC the best it can be, but we couldn’t do it alone. That’s where our amazing neighborhood partners come in.
The Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian is a proud partner, helping to officially kick off WITS by offering their space for our official opening party!
The museum cares for one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive collections of Native artifacts covering the entire Western Hemisphere, from the Arctic Circle to Tierra del Fuego. Since their founding in 1989, the museum’s mission has been to foster “a richer shared human experience through a more informed understanding of Native peoples.” The museum is open every day from 10-5, and admission is always free.
Thank you to the NMAI for helping us bring WITS to life, and stay tuned to meet more of our partners!

Gardening, “gardening” (wink), and hey, more gardening! It’s a plant and produce-forward month here downtown, with a few exciting exceptions. Here are a few noteworthy new openings and upcoming events to keep on your radar:
🌷 Tulip Bulb Giveaway at Bowling Green Park, 5/13
🍃 Alto Dispensary (@altotribeca) on Chambers Street, open now
🥕 City Hall Greenmarket, every Tuesday
📄 Depths of Wikipedia with Annie Rauwerda (@depthsofwikipedia) at McNally Jackson Seaport, 5/9

Met? We thought you said “pet.”
It’s the first Monday in May, which means the #MetGala is fully underway. But 82nd street is a little out of our district, so we decided to skip it (we were totally invited) and show off our dapperly dressed pets instead. Enjoy, and let us know your pick for best dressed in the comments!

It’s a beautiful day to enjoy time in the sun at one of our signature cafe tables! Find them on Albany Plaza and Broad Street near the stock exchange, and take advantage of our free WiFi while you’re at it ☀️💻🕶️

Glitzy, glamorous Gitano – the bohemian nightlife destination born in the lush jungles of Tulum – has opened an expansive new location in the South Street Seaport.
Located in Pier 17, @gitano.nyc makes excellent use of its 13,605 square-foot space. Towering palm trees and tropical greenery stretch toward high ceilings, which are decked out with fringed lamps and an oversized disco ball that commands attention (rumor has it, it’s the largest in Manhattan). Floor-to-ceiling glass doors frame stunning views of the East River and Brooklyn Bridge, and come summer, will open to transform the restaurant into a true indoor/outdoor space.
We dropped by on a chilly spring day, hoping Gitano’s decor, drinks and food would transport us straight to a balmy, tropical villa. Reader, they did 🪩☀️🧉
