We will then follow her path as she faces re-enslavement in Manhattan and later Charleston. Liss’s complex struggle for freedom offers us a unique perspective on the country’s founding era\, as seen through the eyes of an enslaved Black woman yearning for liberty in a nation grappling with its own fight for independence.
