DESCRIPTION:Join the musicians of the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra\, KCO Music Director and Conductor\, Gary S. Fagin\, and four outstanding vocalists\, for a concert Friday\, April 10 at 7:30pm\, at the historic Battery Maritime Building\, located at 10 South Street\, in lower Manhattan\, next to the Staten Island Ferry. \nThis KCO performance will mark the 250th anniversary year – the semiquincentennial – of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Featured will be a world premiere by Gary S. Fagin\, “Each and All\,” drawing on texts about the challenges facing democracy by Plato\, Alexis de Tocqueville\, Henry Longfellow\, Walt Whitman\, and Abraham Lincoln. Karen Karbiener\, President of The Walt Whitman Initiative\, will be in conversation about how Whitman’s words and work resonate with the current state of Democracy. \nThe KCO will be joined by vocalists Katherine Riddle\, soprano\, Rosena Hill Jackson\, mezzo-soprano\, Chauncey Packer\, tenor\, and Ben Davis\, baritone. The evening will also include works by Aaron Copland\, Leonard Bernstein\, and Ricky Ian Gordon.
