SUMMARY:Fresh Prints
DESCRIPTION:This open house will feature a breadth of printing equipment that you will be invited to use. You’ll get to see how the designers at Bowne lock up limited edition designs that will showcase some of the more eccentric parts from the Seaport Museum’s printing and graphic arts collection. Established in 1775\, this letterpress print shop is the city’s oldest operating business under the same name. Today\, the shop continues the age-old tradition of job (or small batch) printing. Advanced registration is required for this free workshop but walkups will be accommodated as possible. Anyone ages 12 and up is welcome. All participants get to take home the items they print during the afternoon.

SUMMARY:“Nelly & Nadine” Screening and Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Nelly & Nadine tells the unlikely love story between Nelly Mousset-Vos\, an opera singer who worked with the French Resistance\, and Nadine Hwang\, a habituée of the French literary scene who was also likely part of the resistance. The two women were sent to Ravensbrück concentration camp\, and it was there where they met and fell in love. Although they were separated in the last few months of the war\, they managed to reunite and spent the rest of their lives together in Venezuela. Nelly and Nadine’s story was kept secret until Nelly’s grandchild Sylvie opened the couple’s personal archives to uncover their history. The Museum’s virtual screening of the film will be followed by a conversation with the film’s director Magnus Gertten and scholar and CEO of the Jewish Women’s Archive Judith Rosenbaum.

SUMMARY:“Cult Classic” with Sloane Crosley
DESCRIPTION:One night in New York City’s Chinatown\, a woman is at a work reunion dinner when she excuses herself to buy a pack of cigarettes. On her way back\, she runs into a former boyfriend. And then another. And… another. What would normally pass for coincidence becomes something far stranger as our heroine\, the recently engaged Lola\, must contend with a great many of her relationships. Memories of the past swirl and converge in ways both comic and eerie\, as Lola is forced to decide if she will surrender herself to the conspiring of one very contemporary cult. In her book\, Cult Classic\, Sloane Crosley spins a wry literary fantasy that is equal parts page-turner and poignant portrayal of alienation. Sip a drink and enjoy views of New York Harbor while listening to Crosley read from and discuss her fantastic book.
