He subsequently grew the firm from $120 million in assets under management to $15 billion. Michael Gatto\, an adjunct professor at Fordham\, will interview O’Shea about his meteoric rise on Wall Street. Topics will include his career and keys to his success\, his views of the current credit markets and his advice for students and young professionals on how to build successful careers in credit. DESCRIPTION:In recorded presentations by two renowned Mexican families\, the museum showcases two traditions central to Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos): the art of making figures from sugar and papier-mâché. These two presentations will take place in Spanish.  “The Sweet Story of Alfeñique” follows matriarch Margarita Mondragón as she creates skulls and animals\, artworks made of sugar (alfeñique). “The Story of Cartonería Tradicional” (The Story of Papier-mâché) follows artisans Ana Miriam Castañeda Montes de Oca and Martín Ramírez as they make compelling figures known as calaveras (laughing skeletons)\, figures that humorously and poetically continue with their work in the afterlife. The art form dates to at least to the 17th century and were used to adorn religious spaces and represent various historical figures in processions. Evelyn Orantes and Joaquin Newman will demonstrate how to create paper marigolds.

DESCRIPTION:Kids can unleash their creativity and have fun painting pumpkins that have been delivered from upstate farms by sail freight—just like in the old days!—by Schooner Apollonia. Guests can also participate in the Museum’s Black Cat Scavenger Hunt on Wavertree and Ambrose as well as other Halloween fun throughout Seaport Museum Open Days. Seaport Museum Open Days include self-guided free tours of the 1885 tall ship Wavertree and scheduled tours of the 1908 lightship Ambrose\, as well as an outdoor exhibition on Pier 16\, on both Saturday and Sunday. Additionally\, on Saturday\, Bowne & Co. will present demonstrations of the 19th century printing process with a variety of presses and equipment from the Museum’s Printing History Collection outdoors on the steps of 209-211 Water Street. Rides on 1930 tugboat W. O. Decker are also available for purchase on both days.

The tour shows that despite such adversities as the Great Fires of 1776 and 1835\, financial panics of the 19th century\, the 1920 Wall Street explosion\, the Crash of 1929\, the stock market collapse of 1987\, the September 11\, 2001 terrorist attack and the financial crisis of 2008\, New York and Wall Street have always recovered their position as the world’s financial capital.
