These people include Holocaust survivors like Kott-Wolle’s parents and others in her community growing up. “They existed in living color for me – in their printed sundresses\, socks and sandals\, with numbers tattooed on their arms\,” she writes. “Some of them had haunted looks in their eyes and seemed burdened with a profound sadness that kept them at the edge of anger while others were brimming with gratitude and optimism as they rebuilt their lives in Canada. All of them viewed my generation as walking miracles on earth.” Join Kott-Wolle for a presentation and discussion of “Growing Up Jewish – Art & Storytelling\,” a series of 35 oil paintings and stories about Jewish identity in North America and how it transmits from one generation to the next.

Swamp in the City will feature performances from Jesse Lége\, Cedric Watson\, Joel Savoy\, Joe Hall\, Kelli Jones\, Wilson Savoy\, Jourdan Thibodeaux\, Chas Justus\, Jo Vidrine\, Rose & the Bros\, Bayou Brew… and maybe more! Bring your instruments! Swamp in the City will host a jam each day and\, if enough visitors are interested\, they’ll offer a few group lessons in playing Cajun & Creole music. A Swamp in the City HQ tent will let registrants stash their instruments safely when not in use.

She explores its effects on how race was seen\, read\, and sensed at the turn of the twentieth century. A highly interdisciplinary work\, The Black Skyscraper breaks new ground in analyzing the influence of race on modern architectural design\, as well as considering the effects of these designs on the experience and perception of race.
