Open Restaurants Temporarily Halted For First Winter Storm Of The Season

It’s heeeeeeeeeere — the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for New York City beginning the afternoon of Wednesday, December 16 and lasting through Thursday, December 17. We’re expected to get a solid snow dump, with the Weather Service predicting as much as eight to 14 inches accumulating. Keep in mind that pretty snow can make road conditions hazardous, and that wind gusts may make it unpleasant to be outside.

We’ll be halting Open Restaurants during the Weather Storm Watch. Please check NYC’s Severe Weather page for official announcements. Post-storm, the Downtown Alliance’s operations team will be clearing bus stops, fire hydrants, all corner caps, plaza surfaces and crosswalks so you’ll be able to walk through the neighborhood easily.

Property owners are responsible for keeping a clear path in front of their own buildings. Please don’t push snow onto the street or sidewalks.

Note that Alternate Side Parking is suspended Wednesday and Thursday; there may be public transit and Citi Bike disruptions due to the storm, so be sure to check the MTA’s and Citi Bike’s Twitter pages for updates.

Stay safe and warm, everyone!
