The BEAST Is Back

The BEAST Is Back

July 28, 2025

If spending time in Lower Manhattan wasn’t thrilling enough, downtown speed demons have a new (well, new for this decade) adventure coming their way. High-speed boat the BEAST is making its return to Lower Manhattan for the first time in more than 15 years, giving adrenaline junkies the opportunity to zip along the Hudson at a heart-pounding 40 knots.

Operated by Circle Line Cruises, the BEAST spent nearly a decade in Lower Manhattan, launching at the Seaport in 1998. The high-speed rollercoaster-esque ride, complete with thumping musical beats and notable boat teeth, was a hit, spawning a Midtown offshoot in 1999. The downtown BEAST retired in 2007, but starting August 1, the fanged speedboat will be back in Lower Manhattan, launching 30-minute cruises out of Pier 16 in the Seaport from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A group of people on a speedboat laugh and react with surprise as a large splash of water drenches them. One woman in the foreground, wearing sunglasses and a black shirt, smiles broadly while gripping a green handrail. The spray of water fills much of the frame, partially obscuring some faces. The background shows a city skyline and open water under a bright, sunny sky.

Tickets run $34 per person, and include a half-hour of antics up the Hudson River, pairing stellar skyline views with daredevil maneuvers, high-octane music and speeds up to 45 miles per hour. Riders should expect to have a ton of fun (and get a little wet!). If you score an opening day ticket, you’ll even get a free BEAST sticker that’ll make all your friends jealous.
