Celebrate The Lunar New Year With A Bullish Selection Of Eats And Events Downtown

No amount of snow, freezing rain or ongoing pandemic can dampen our Lunar New Year spirits. For those seeking to ring in the Year of the Ox in Lower Manhattan, check out our list of various activities happening around the district.

Brookfield Place: Dramatic Ice Sculptures, Shopping Giveaways And Live Performances  

February 12-13: The talented creative team at Okamoto Studio will display their Lunar New Year ice sculptures on the Waterfront Plaza. 

February 12-19: Spend $200 or more at any Brookfield Place NY shop or restaurant and receive a lucky red envelope for a chance to win a gift card valued for $18, $88 or $888. 

February 19-Mar. 14: Studio BFPL teams up with the New York Chinese Cultural Center to host free socially-distanced Friday dance and Saturday music performances within Brookfield Place. Registration is required.  

Virtual Activities Hosted By The China Institute On February 13 

The family-friendly festivities kick off with a lion dance and puppet performance Saturday morning, followed by workshops ranging from Chinese lantern painting, dumpling cooking and shadow theatre sessions. Registration is required.

Workshops, Celebratory Light and Art Exhibits at Westfield World Trade Center

February 6-12: Sign up for kid-friendly dumpling making, papercutting and watercolor classes hosted by the China Institute.

February 10-12: Get your camera ready to photograph Oculus’ red and gold lights from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. (and feel free to tag us on Instagram).

February 11-13: Chinese artist Ding Guohong’s “Restoration Artist Exhibit” will showcase his take on traditional ceramic techniques to repair broken objects. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
