Five Reasons To Dive Into Summer Seafood Season Early At Seamore’s

It’s starting to feel like the first blush of New York City summer. Which also means it’s time to officially shake out of our winter hibernation meal ruts, and welcome back some lighter summer staples. With a newly updated menu, there’s no better place to soak in the early summer vibes than Seamore’s (250 Vesey Street), the Brookfield Place standby which serves up fish shack classics made with hyperlocal, sustainable seafood.

In case you need further inspiration, the following are five of Seamore’s options we’re especially excited to dig into this season.

Blackened Shrimp Nachos

It’s a little known piece of nutritional science that nachos can be transformed into a health food with the simple addition of shrimp (hey, lean protein!). This may not be remotely true, but it still sounds pretty delicious.

Kale Caesar Salad

Chicken tends to be most people’s go-to Caesar salad topper, and that’s fine and all, but nothing will take a classic salad up a notch like that addition of top-shelf seafood. At Seamore’s you’ve got the option to add scallops, blackened shrimp, the daily catch, steelhead or seared sesame tuna.

Beer-Battered Fish Sandwich

A huge, perfectly fried fish sandwich is an essential rite of summer, and you can’t do much better than this one, which pairs beer-battered daily catch with tartar sauce and pickled veggies.

Blackened Monkfish Sandwich

For a slightly lighter option, consider the blackened monkfish sandwich, also with pickled veggies. Throw in a side of sweet potato fries while you’re at it.

East Coast Oysters

In any discussion of summer and seafood, we’d be remiss not to point you in the direction of classic East coast oysters, paired with an ice cold glass of white wine. If there’s a better way to shake off the doldrums of a pandemic winter, we haven’t heard one.
