Something to Noodle on: Xi’an Famous Foods Is ‘Famous for a Reason’

The long, noodle-less nightmare is finally over: Xi’an Famous Foods finally reopened its Lower Manhattan location last month at 8 Liberty Place.

Xi’an calls itself “famous for a reason,” and the reason is its tantalizingly saucy, irresistibly tasty menu of dumplings, noodles and salads that have attracted an almost cult-like following. The mini chain shut down several stores as it weathered the pandemic; other locations around the city had already reopened their doors but it took until November for the Lower Manhattan branch to come back to life.

In addition to being a fast, reliable and delicious lunch spot, Xi’an offers up large portions at an extremely affordable price: lamb burgers, dumplings or bowls of its signature noodles will all run you less than $10 a pop; some dishes are even less than $7.

Pro-tip: do it properly and order everything actually spicy, but don’t wear a white shirt when you eat it, because you’re going to want to slurp that sauce.

The 8 Liberty Place location is open Monday-Saturday 11:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m., and closed Sunday.
