The Downtown Connection Will Take You Where You Want to Go — For Free!

It’s our 30th anniversary, and we’re self-celebrating. Over the next few months, we’ll be rolling out 30 stories about 30 of our biggest accomplishments, including everything from our daily public safety and sanitation work, to our small business outreach, to how we helped the neighborhood navigate challenges and even tragedies. You’ll be able to find these stories on our website, as well as in our weekly newsletter, which you can subscribe to here.
Did you know that the Alliance runs a free bus service in Lower Manhattan? In 2003, we launched the Downtown Connection, a free shuttle bus that provides easy access to important downtown locations like Battery Park City, the World Financial Center and the Seaport. In its 22 years of continuous operations, the shuttle has provided more than seven million rides to residents, workers and visitors alike.
Indeed, our five state-of-the-art, bright red buses, each with seating for 22 passengers, operate daily, making 36 stops around the perimeter of Lower Manhattan. Service runs from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with arrival times averaging around every 15 minutes, so whether you’re loaded down with groceries and need some help getting around or just want to sit for a second, the Downtown Connection will get you where you want to go — no fare necessary.
