O Christmas Palm, O Christmas Palm: Brookfield Place Goes Tropical This Holiday
The weather outside is starting to get frightful, but the vibe inside Brookfield Place is quite tropical this holiday season.
Long known for the towering palm trees that line its bright and spacious atrium, Brookfield Place is bringing an island-esque twist to the holidays this year with its first Holiday Under the Palms celebration. The complex is celebrating the arrival of 16 new palm trees (they get replaced about every 10 years) by turning its atrium into a sun-kissed oasis, gifting visitors with a resort vacation without having to leave Lower Manhattan.
The holiday theme launched on November 22 and promises a calendar full of events and programming for the season. That includes a radical change in latitude and attitude for Santa: Instead of the usual workshop, this year, North Pole’s finest gift-giver will be appearing in front of a massive sandcastle.
The holiday season programming keeps the island vacation vibe going with a Tropical Cocktail Crawl, running from December 1 through 24. Seamore’s, Le District, Sixpoint Brewery, Parm, All’Antico Vinaio and Tartinery will all be providing specialty cocktails inspired by the Holiday Under the Palms theme. If you get cocktails from two different restaurants on the crawl, you get a free at-home holiday cocktail kit.
But it’s not all “Mele Kalikimaka” this holiday season in Brookfield Place, which will still offer a number of other traditional holiday festivities. That includes a Holiday Harmonies free lunchtime live music series on December 3, 10 and 17; a Hanukkah celebration on December 17; and Hot Chocolate Tuesdays, which is your chance to win a free hot chocolate if you spend more than $25 inside the complex.
