Level Up Your Penmanship With the China Institute’s Calligraphy Meetup

The Year of the Rabbit is hopping along at the China Institute (100 Washington St.), where you’ll be able to catch a charming evening of themed calligraphy and music on Friday, August 11.

The institute’s recurring calligraphy meetup invites visitors to learn, explore and practice the art of brushwork and composition. General admission is $10 for the general public (it’s free for members and students), and gives you access to a two-hour open session about the ancient art. Plus, the class will be accompanied by Chinese music performances representing various regions and genres.

No experience is required; ink, paper and brushes will be provided. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. You can read more about the hosting artists in addition to reserving your spot here.
