Climate Week NYC is back with over 1,000 events from September 20 to 27. This week is put on by the Climate Group alongside the United Nations and the City of New York, all in pursuit of the same goal: keep climate action visible and moving forward. And if you’re looking to get in the action, you’ll find plenty of climate-friendly events at the Seaport
On September 21 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Ocean Awakens Conference docks at the Wavertree in Seaport (89 South St), with entry for free or with a donation. Expect voices from all sectors together in conversation, spread across panels, short films and a networking reception. The conversations will dive into all things ocean — plastics, marine restoration, maritime technology, advocacy and storytelling that gets people to care.
The South Street Seaport Museum will also host the Climate Film Festival on September 23 at 6 p.m. They will be screening “Between Moon Tides,” “Refuge Keepers” and “Holdfast Together: Keepers of California’s Kelp.” These climate-focused films will be followed by a panel, Q&A with filmmakers and the opportunity to share your own thoughts after.
