Feeling a Little Chilly? These Tasty Comfort Foods Will Warm You Up Inside

Though Punxsutawney Phil may have forecasted an early spring, we’re still firmly in winter’s chilly grasp. Until the alliterate groundhog’s prediction comes to pass, we are in need of warm, delicious foods to get us through until the big thaw. Here are four comfort foods that’ll feed your cold-weather cravings in Lower Manhattan.

Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup at Ulysses’ (95 Pearl St.)

Is there any union of flavors quite as comforting as tomato and cheese? We think not. The grilled cheese and tomato soup at Ulysses’ is a winning combination for multiple reasons, but the gooey, melty cheddar and gruyere on sourdough is enough to keep us coming back.

California Burrito at Tajin Restaurant (85 Greenwich St.)

The California Burrito at Tajin is exactly the kind of casual, no-frills Mexican food we crave on a cold day. Just thinking about ground beef, rice, beans, cheese, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole swaddled in a warm flour tortilla feels like a hug.

Fat Cat Burger at Bill’s Bar & Burger (85 West St.)

For hearty all-American fare, look no further than Bill’s Bar & Burger. The Fat Cat burger is a crowd pleaser for good reason: With caramelized onions, American cheese and special sauce on an English muffin, the Fat Cat is just as savory as you might imagine. But don’t just take our word for it: CNN once named it among the top 10 burgers in America.

Lobster Roll at Luke’s Lobster (26 S. William St.)

If your idea of comfort food evokes memories of a salty summer day in, say, Nantucket, grab a lobster roll at Luke’s. Chilled lobster served in a bun with a swipe of mayo, lemon butter and secret seasoning, there are few pleasures as rich and delectable as this New England staple.
