Want to Go Behind the Scenes at Delmonico’s? This VIP Brunch Is Your Ticket

Delmonico’s (56 Beaver St.)  is a New York institution, earning its status as the nation’s first restaurant when it opened in 1837. Even after a recent renovation, Delmonico’s has preserved its old-school magic — and now, you can get an inside look at all its secrets.

As part of the Bowery Boys Walking History Tours program, on February 17, Carl Raymond, host of “The Gilded Gentleman” history podcast, will host a special VIP event at the restaurant. In addition to dining on Delmonico’s brunch specialties, Max Tucci, a third-generation Delmonico’s partner and the author of “The Delmonico Way: Sublime Entertaining and Legendary Recipes from the Restaurant that Made New York,” will be on hand to lead a behind-the-scenes tour. You’ll be able to peep private club rooms once frequented by the likes of Nikola Tesla and Marilyn Monroe and hear Delmonico’s stories dating back to the 1920s — plus, there’ll be Prosecco, if the history alone isn’t enough to tempt you.

The tour kicks off at 11:30 a.m.; for $269, you get the tour, a three-course brunch and that aforementioned glass of Prosecco, plus bragging rights that you set foot in the same spot as Charles Dickens. Purchase your tickets here
