Free Movies Alert: “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “Ghostbusters” at Fosun Plaza
As we inch closer and closer to spooky season, Fosun Plaza is teaming up with Alamo Drafthouse to bring Lower Manhattan a dash of the supernatural. On two Thursdays this fall, you’ll be able to attend free outdoor film screenings on Fosun Plaza at 28 Liberty. And we promise these will be magical.
First, on Thursday, September 26, you can head to Hogwarts with your wizarding pals at a screening of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” And on Thursday, October 17, battle Gozer the Gozerian with Venkman, Ray, Spengler and Winston at a showing of the original 1984 “Ghostbusters.”
Admission is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis with some seating provided, though you can also bring blankets to sit on. Weather permitting, both films will begin at 7 p.m., though attendees can arrive as early as 6 p.m. Costumes at both screenings are encouraged, and there will be a special Halloween-themed costume contest ahead of “Ghostbusters.” Movies will be shown on the western side of the plaza near the corner of Nassau and Liberty streets (look for the giant 40-foot LED screen). Attendees can bring their own food and drinks, and/or enjoy free popcorn courtesy Alamo Drafthouse. BYO wands and proton packs.
