Chill Out at the Fourth Annual Governors Island Ice Sculpture Show

Calling all ice queens and kings: Mark your calendars for the Governors Island Ice Sculpture Show on February 8. Ten artists will be paired with a professional ice sculptor from New York–based Okamoto Studio to bring their ice sculpture designs to life in front of an audience, giving the public the opportunity to witness the artistic process. The show will conclude with an awards ceremony, where one winning ice sculpturist will be crowned for all to see.
This year’s ice sculpture show artists are Ana Añu, Elijah Chavez, Jake DeMartini, Shawn Hill, Aharon Levy, Augistina Markez, Josef Pinlac, Sonya Sobieski and Katerina Sokolovskaya. Learn more about their sculpture concepts here.
The event will also feature other opportunities to chill, including ice carving workshops for the public, craft workshops from Red Hook Art Project, music from the Illustrious Blacks and a performance from the Fogo Azul drumline, as well as food from Makina Café, Nao Caribbean Flavors, the Original Soupman and Deploy Coffee.
The fourth annual show — free and open to all, with no tickets required — is presented by Governors Island Arts and runs from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
