It’s Greenmarket Season In LM!

By: Caroline De Tino

The holiday season is fast approaching! Why not use the freshest ingredients in your next recipe by shopping at one of the many greenmarkets in Lower Manhattan?

Our neighborhood’s greenmarkets are just bursting with seasonal options that include locally sourced fruits, vegetables, honey, cheese, ciders, baked goods and so much more.  They also offer great ideas for gift giving and for new holiday dishes to try.

The newest greenmarket location to open in 2017 is at Oculus Plaza! After 9/11, the weekly greenmarket was forced to close but after nearly 16 years, it has made its grand re-opening just in time for  year-end festivities.

Short on cash? Now you can use your EBT card at almost every greenmarket. And for every $5 you spend using your card, you will receive a $2 health bucks coupon for additional fruits and vegetables.

Greenmarkets are just a short walk away from almost anywhere in Lower Manhattan.  They can be found at: Bowling Green, Water Street, City Hall, Fulton Stall Market, the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, Tribeca, Fulton Stall Market, and the newly opened greenmarket at Oculus Plaza! More details about greenmarkets can be found at www.grownyc.org.

So go ahead and choose local and healthy options for all your seasonal needs by picking up fresh produce and goodies right here in LM!
