The U.S. Open just kicked off, and you know what that means: It’s officially Honey Deuce season. For the uninitiated, the Honey Deuce, which is made with vodka, lemonade, raspberry liqueur and honeydew melon balls, is the official drink of the U.S. Open. And we love any sport that has an official cocktail, especially one that’s this refreshing.
In honor of the U.S. Open, we’ve rounded up a few downtown spots serving up Honey Deuces or Honey Deuce-esque tennis-themed drinks so you can get in on the fun without taking a sweaty hourlong subway ride to Queens.
Recreation Bar
This cocktail bar located in the Moxy NYC Downtown (26 Ann St.) is hosting U.S. Open watch parties and serving up a few special drinks in honor of the event. Now through September 13, you can grab a Honey Deuce for $18 (far less than what it’ll cost courtside!). Other drink specials include the Patrón Paloma made with Patrón Silver, grapefruit soda, fresh lime, and salt; and a Berry Rouge Royale made with Grey Goose Berry Rouge, lemonade, Brut Rosé, and soda water.
Stout
Stout’s FiDi location (90 John St.) has been our go-to spot for all things sports this summer. (And listen, there have been a lot of sports happenings this summer.) While the U.S. Open is happening, Stout will be serving the iconic Honey Deuce both in its classic format and as a frozen drink. Come try them both while you watch the tournament with a few friends.
Sadie’s Garden Bar
Newcomer Sadie’s (19 Fulton St.) is offering Honey Deuces alongside match screenings, so you can sip your drink while enjoying the sets alongside burgers and other American fare. It’s a delightful way to drink and sport.
Beckett’s Sports Bar
Beckett’s Sports Bar (located at 81 Pearl St. or 48 Stone St., depending on which side you approach from) has a Honey Deuce on their menu. Pro tip: It pairs really well with the Irish Spice Bag, made with fries, crispy chicken, onions, pepper and curry sauce.
Blue Haven
Blue Haven (121 Fulton St.) has a cocktail menu that’s just plain fun. Right now, they have a classic Honey Deuce on their menu, along with whimsically named drinks like the Citi Bike Spritz (made with Teeling Irish Whiskey, ginger liqueur, lemonade, ginger beer and a squeeze of lemon) and the Heated Rivalry (made with Grey Goose Berry Rouge, triple sec, lime, cranberry, simple syrup and habanero).
The Wall Street Hotel
Rumor has it that both of the Wall Street Hotel’s dining spots at 88 Wall St. — La Marchande and Lounge on Pearl — will be serving an elevated take on the Honey Deuce through September 13. Like the Honey Deuce, the Match Point is made with vodka, raspberry liqueur and those classic melon balls, but it also incorporates lychee and lemongrass. It’s kind of like the Honey Deuce’s cool older sister.
Urban Cove
Through September 13, Urban Cove Society & Kitchen (33 Peck Slip) is serving a take on the Honey Deuce. The Deuces, Honey! is a vibrant green sipper made with lemon and pear Grey Goose, melon liqueur, lemon juice, soda and berries. It’s a great drink to savor during these last few weeks of summer.
Industry Kitchen
Industry Kitchen (70 South St.) doesn’t exactly have a Honey Deuce, but they do have a special tennis-themed cocktail: The Sour Apple Martennis, made with vodka, apple schnapps, simple syrup and lemon juice. It’s part of the restaurant’s Courtside Menu, a special lineup that’s being offered during the U.S. Open. Some of the bites we’re eyeing to pair with the Sour Apple Martennis include the Champion’s Lobster Pizza and the Tennis Ball Sundae.
