Governors Island Alliance Family Festival and Opening Day

Governors Island will re-open to the public on Saturday May 26th and will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through September 30. From Noon to 4PM will be the Governors Island Alliance Family Festival. This will be the 8th Opening Weekend Family Festival the Governors Island Alliance has hosted on the Island. Children and their families will gather in Nolan Park on Governors Island to enjoy music, theater, dance, arts & crafts, face painting, maritime education and more. Performances will run throughout the day with artists such as Astrograss, The Maybelles, and Arm of the Sea Theater.

Memorial Day Weekend Promotion – book at $169.00 through Tuesday, May 29!

Downtown Connection bus service will be running on its regular schedule all weekend, including Monday.

Tourism kiosks will be closed Monday and open 10AM – 5PM on Saturday and Sunday

MTA will also add extra trains on Friday to help New Yorkers get an early start on the long three-day weekend. And on Memorial Day, all MTA services will operate on Sunday schedules. More details below:

– J trains run between Jamaica Center and Chambers Street
– 5 trains run between Dyre Avenue and Bowling Green (daytime) and East 180th Street (overnight)
