Welcome back to Owen for Business!  I’m Michael Owen, and in this issue of Owen for Business we’ll cover retail locations that offer some of the essentials in life such as a haircut, a shoe shine, and where to find an ice-cold beer.  If you see any new retailers or changes to existing retailers, please email me at [email protected]. Thanks!

Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club – 89 South Street, Pier 17 North,       212-896-4600

The Water Taxi Beach has been redesigned with a great new look, giving us the Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club. Recline on comfy couches while sipping craft beers, listening to live music, and even playing a game of Ping-Pong. There is also an extended sand bar with views of the East River.

Downtown Shoe Repair – 88 Fulton Street, Lower Level,  917-330-1132

Something as simple as well-shined shoes does make an impression at the office.  Downtown Shoe Repair will have your shoes looking so spotless, you may even catch your own reflection in them.

Black Harp – South Street Seaport, Pier 17 Mall, Third Floor,                   212-608-4209

Black Harp offers brews with views, from its prime location on the third floor of the South Street Seaport Mall.  There is a wide selection of Irish beers on tap, as well as rotating local microbrews.  Even though the bar is located on the third floor, the stained glass partitions and wood paneling give Black Harp the feel of a typical, local pub.

Mike’s Barber Shop –  29 John Street, Lower Level,  917-442-2100

Michael Davidov brings his honed barbershop skills to John Street.  Head right down the stairs, and leave looking your best.

Caravelli’s Pizzeria – 3 World Financial Center Courtyard, 212-323-6290

Caravelli’s Pizzeria offers delicious pizza, sandwiches, and a wide variety of Italian specialties.  The courtyard location makes Caravelli’s a great place to have lunch or dinner.
