12 Photos of Pretty Well Beauty, the Shop That Gives Rise to “Clean Beauty”

Jazmin Alvarez’s brick-and-mortar debut Pretty Well Beauty has dozens of brands and hundreds of items in stock, with a focus on all-natural products made by people of color. After spending years in a chemical-heavy cosmetics industry, Alvarez said she “reached a point where I wanted to start from scratch and get rid of everything,” according to People Chica, “and that’s what led me towards clean beauty.”

The retailer, which opened on the second floor of the Oculus (185 Greenwich St.) in 2022, maintains a philosophy of inclusivity when it comes to curating “some of the cleanest brands on the planet.” Alvarez’s vision gives local shoppers and tourists the opportunity to dig into beauty care products they might not see elsewhere, like an item from Tierra & Lava’s skin-care line or herbal remedies from Brooklyn native Anima Mundi.

The Downtown Alliance took a recent tour of the shop and just had to break out the camera lens. Here are 12 snaps we took for your viewing pleasure.

Pretty Well Beauty is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
