Downtown’s Famous Bank Vault Bar Is Ready to Welcome You This Holiday Season

In 1904, Andrew Carnegie declared the bank at Trinity Place home to “the world’s largest and strongest bank vault in the world.” No vault was quite strong enough to hold off the effects of the pandemic, of course, but more than a century later, you can sip cocktails inside the vault’s 35-ton doors again at Trinity Place, which is a classy place to stop for a drink or a bite during your holiday trips around Lower Manhattan. 

The restaurant (115 Broadway) closed during 2020’s first wave of the pandemic but has been going strong since reopening — keeping alive one of the neighborhood’s most iconic and historic places to drink and eat. 

The menu features gourmet versions of cozy pub favorites that are perfect for hiding out from the winter weather: beef and Guinness pie, confit duck leg risotto, wagyu burgers and gorgonzola ricotta ravioli. The bar menu features smaller bites to go along with its sprawling wine selection, including wagyu pigs n’ blanket, empanadas and tuna tacos; plus seasonal cocktails like The Mistress Rose featuring Grey Goose, pear, rosemary, spiced apple and ginger. Trinity Place also has an extensive gluten-free menu, offering gluten-free options of some of its popular dinner items. 

The front dining area includes a 40-foot mahogany bar, anchored to the five original steel walls of the vault. The dining room is topped with its original brass chandelier, and once served as a private meeting room for Wall Street bankers. You can book it for a private event too if you’re feeling like living out your early 20th century banker dreams.
