Tyree Daye To Speak At Poets House Virtual Event
Tyree Daye is a much-celebrated poet and educator, and he’s joining Poets House for a reading next week. Poets House — the Lower Manhattan library and meeting place that aims to make poetry accessible to a wide audience — has invited the North Carolina-based writer to its “Poets House Presents” series on October 2 at 12p.
The series consists of 10-minute readings that are broadcast via Instagram and YouTube.
Daye, who is from Youngsville, and teaches at UNC-Chapel Hill, will read from his forthcoming second collection “Cardinal” from Copper Canyon Press. Daye’s previous poetry collection “River Hymns” won the APR/Honickman First Book Prize.
Daye is also a Cave Canem fellow, and won the 2019 Palm Beach Poetry Festival Langston Hughes Fellowship and a 2019 Whiting Writers Award.
