Here’s Your Chance to Sip Whiskey on a 19th Century Tall Ship

After this week’s arctic hellscape, it’s going to warm up just a touch on Friday. And not a second too soon, because the South Street Seaport Museum’s got something fun planned: a whiskey tasting aboard the 1885 Tall Ship “Wavertree.”
On January 24 at 8 p.m., you can hop on the Seaport Museum’s signature offering, a National Register-listed 19th century sailing vessel reminiscent of so many ships that once docked along New York’s waterfront. Co-hosted by the New York Adventure Club and led by Manhattan Whiskey Club founder Kurt Mainland, the two-hour experience includes a tour of the ship and a curated tasting of five maritime-themed whiskeys.
Do bundle up for the tour, though the tasting itself will be held in the climate-controlled crew’s quarters. Also, while there will be some light refreshments provided, the Seaport Museum strongly recommends grabbing a meal ahead of the booze-heavy event (and there are many great nearby options!), lest you end up three sheets to the wind.
The tour is open to anyone ages 21-and-over, and runs $79 per ticket. For more information and to snag your spot, visit the Seaport Museum’s website.
