Is there anything better than eating a delicious baked treat? It turns out that answer is yes, and it’s when that treat benefits an important cause. On Saturday, October 18, you can indulge in the exquisite combination of baked goods and good deeds at the Great Community Bake Sale, held at the WSA Building at 180 Maiden Ln. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hosted by celebrated pastry chef Natasha Pickowicz, the Great Community Bake Sale will feature offerings from more than 100 chefs and bakers, including Radio Bakery’s Kelly Mencin, Onika Brown of Rafs, Rachel Bossett of Dirt Candy and Jackie Carnesi of the revamped Kellogg’s Diner. Proceeds will be split among four different organizations: Heart of Dinner, which delivers care packages to Asian American senior citizens; Make the Road New York, which offers advocacy and legal help to immigrant communities; healthy food advocacy group One Love Community Fridge; and the Teaching Kitchen at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, which works with nonprofits to help them expand their healthy food programs.
Admission is free and the event is open to the public; to purchase baked goods, Eventbrite has $13 tickets available, and you can exchange one per treat (tickets are limited to 10 per attendee). Grab your ticket here and prepare now for a delectable day downtown.
