Time to pick your snazziest outfit from the closest because one of Lower Manhattan’s best annual charitable traditions is back. The Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) Foundation will host its annual fundraising gala to support the institution’s scholarship program on April 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This year’s event, “Invest in a Future, Change a Life,” will take place at BMCC’s gymnasium at 100 North Moore St.
Proceeds from the gala, a longstanding tradition of the community college that calls Lower Manhattan home, fund tuition fees for hundreds of students every year. These funds can also help local students with textbooks, career assistance and certification exams.
This year’s gala will honor Michael Dowling, the CEO emeritus of Northwell Health, with its BMCC Lifetime Achievement Award. Shana Stephenson, the chief brand officer for the New York Liberty, will receive the BMCC Excellence Award. As in years past, the gala will feature performances and readings from BMCC students.
