The Irish Punt Has Reopened Just In Time For St. Patrick’s Day

It is almost St. Patrick’s Day again and, unlike last March, you can actually go out and celebrate the holiday this year! The celebrations will be extra special in the neighborhood this week because The Irish Punt, the cozy pub and restaurant at 40 Exchange Place, is back in action and ready to pour you a pint or six.

The bar, which advertises itself as the “closest pub to the Stock Exchange,” reopened on Monday at 11 a.m. The bar had been open in fits and starts as dining regulations changed over the year, but with indoor dining allowed to up to 50% capacity citywide starting March 19, things are looking up for local haunts like this one.

The Irish Punt — whose name is slang for the currency Ireland used before the Euro — offers hearty pub fare like shepherd’s pie and fish and chips, along with wings and lots of other bar grub. And, of course, there’s whiskey and beer to kick off the most hopeful St. Patrick’s Day in years.
