Have a Classy Night Out at Fraunces Tavern’s New Piano Bar

One of the oldest bars in Manhattan just got a little bit hipper.

Fraunces Tavern (54 Pearl Street) — the historic Revolutionary-era pub and restaurant where George Washington would dine  — now has an upstairs piano bar. The bar opened in late November and operates Thursday to Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight, and there’s no cover charge. Music comes from a pianist and vocalist singing off-Broadway showtunes, and the bar staff joins in sometimes, too.

The upstairs bar has its own cocktail menu featuring a Spanish-style gin and tonic and the Prince-inspired Raspberry Beret, made of Dingle Original Gin, Fever Tree Indian Tonic, lemon and raspberries. The bar also serves beer, wine, whiskeys and small snack plates featuring figs, cheese and salmon.

If all goes well, the Tavern plans to expand the piano bar to six nights a week. See its full menu and details here
