Hit Up These Outdoor Movie Nights at Fosun Plaza This Summer

Big outdoor movie nights are a beloved New York City summer tradition for a reason — there’s nothing like lugging out the old picnic blanket to take in a flick and/or passing airplanes under the stars. And this summer, the Downtown Alliance is teaming up with Alamo Drafthouse and Fosun to bring you Wednesday-night screenings at Fosun Plaza (28 Liberty Street), featuring a slate of films that’ll have you hopping off that aforementioned picnic blanket for intermittent dance breaks. After all, nobody puts Baby in the corner…of the picnic blanket…we’ll stop talking about picnic blankets now. 

Here’s the lineup, and note that all screenings are scheduled for 7 p.m., with plaza seating open at 6:30 p.m.: 

Dancing Under the Stars: Three Movies You Can Move to 

• Wednesday, 7/13 @ 7 p.m. — Dirty Dancing
• Wednesday, 8/24 @ 7 p.m. — La La Land
• Wednesday, 9/21 @ 7 p.m. — In the Heights

If you don’t want to bring a blanket, no worries: Fosun will have seats provided. As for munchies, Alamo will have some popcorn at the ready, though you’re also welcome to bring your own food and drinks. Alamo will also have posters and their printing press at the plaza if you want to leave with some funky movie merch. No need to register in advance — just mark the dates in your calendar and let your buddies know on the group text ASAP.
