McNally Jackson Book Talk Uncovers the “Raw Deal” Behind the Meat Industry

Among all the many other ways the meat industry is failing us, from environmental destruction to animal- and human-rights abuses, here’s one more to think about: It might be corrupt, too.

That’s the premise of Chloe Sorvino’s new book Raw Deal: Hidden Corruption, Corporate Greed, and the Fight for the Future of Meat. On December 7, the Forbes financial journalist will appear at McNally Jackson Books’ Seaport location (4 Fulton Street) to discuss her debut title as well as her exposé into the real workings of this major player in the country’s food system.

The book, which Publisher’s Weekly called  “a deeply informed and eye-opening call for change,” looks at how corporate greed in the form of price fixing and power grabs have led to increased climate change and other issues that will upend our food production in the near future.
