On the afternoon of November 25, 1783, the last of the British troops serving in the Revolutionary War departed from New York City. From an outpost on the city’s edge, General Washington led a triumphant parade of American soldiers through the city’s streets. Evacuation Day signaled the return of peace to New York and the beginning of an independent United States. Join us for this immersive walking tour led by Mrs. Q, recounting the route taken by General Washington through the city. From Cape’s Tavern to Fraunces Tavern, you will meet familiar revolutionary faces, like Alexander Hamilton and Culper Spy Ring member Abraham Woodhull. The tour will conclude at Fraunces Tavern Museum, where a large celebration was held in honor of General Washington.
