In Hotel Cuba, Aaron Hamburger, whose gift for storytelling has been recognized by the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Lambda Literary Awards, tells a story of sisterhood and the immigrant experience. Centered in a 1920s Havana filled with the lush, sensual local sights, sounds, and tastes, this novel was inspired by Hamburger’s grandmother Pearl, an undocumented immigrant who left a sheltered life in Russia for America in 1922 and found herself trapped—and set free— in pre-Castro Cuba. Hamburger will read from his novel and discuss the story and his work on the book, with a signing to follow.
