Each November, movie fans celebrate the hallmark antiheroes, femme fatales, moral complexities, and the stunning black & white cinematography of film noir. In The Narrow Margin (Richard Fleischer, 1952, 72 minutes) a tough cop (Charles McGraw) meets his match when he has to transport the widow of a gangster (Marie Windsor) to the trial in which she’ll testify. They travel by train from Chicago to Los Angeles with their lives constantly under threat from hit men on the train, who will stop at nothing to prevent her from testifying.
