Person Place Thing is an interview show based on this idea: people are particularly engaging when they speak not directly about themselves but about something they care about. Guests talk about one person, one place, and one thing that are important to them. The result? Surprising stories from great speakers. Host Randy Cohen will be interviewing David Gonzalez, co-editor of The New York Times Lens blog and works on the biweekly “Side Street” photo-essay feature for the Metro Section. As a long-time member of the Metro desk, his work has often focused on the city’s neighborhoods and how they reflect the larger social and cultural issues in American society. His prizes include a Distinguished Writing Award from the American Society of Newspaper Editors, the Columbia University’s Mike Berger Award and was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. Gonzalez was born and raised in the Bronx, earned a B.A. from Yale University and an M.A. in Journalism from Columbia University.
