Pinkster is a religious holiday associated with the change of season to spring. Today, Pinkster is recognized as the oldest African-American holiday of the United States, celebrated since the colonial period. The African influence on Pinkster dates from the fifteenth century in the Bantu regions of Congo and Angola.
