Alamo Drafthouse To Open In Lower Manhattan With 14-Screen Theater

Alamo Drafthouse is coming to Lower Manhattan! This fall, the Austin-born dine-in theater will expand from its Brooklyn location with an outpost at 28 Liberty Street, the first of five new theaters slated to open in Staten Island, Washington, D.C., and St. Louis — quite the post-COVID comeback tale after the chain filed for bankruptcy last year.

Soon, fans of the multiplex with seat-side service will no longer have to cross the East River to get their fix of classic screenings, buzzy new indies or the latest franchise drop, paired with libations like boozy shakes and craft brews, and snacks and entrees from chips and queso to flatbreads and sandwiches.

The new location of the 14-screen moviehouse will also be home to The Press Room, a museum-bar event space featuring a 50,000-rich archive of old letterpress film advertising plates which you can peruse with a cocktail before your screening.

On weekends, the letterpress will fire up prints and postcards from the collection so you can take home your own relic of film history.
