We’re Collaborating With ArtBridge on a New Public Art Project, and We Want YOUR Submissions!
September 5, 2024
As part of our ongoing commitment to bringing public art to Lower Manhattan, this fall, we’re partnering with arts organization ArtBridge to turn Lower Manhattan’s construction fencing into large-scale art installations. If you’re an artist who wants to be a part of this experience, you’re in luck — we’re looking for a minimum of five local artists to bring art installations to scaffoldings, sheds and other fencing around Lower Manhattan buildings.
To submit, you must be a New York City-based artist who lives or works in one of the five boroughs and is at least 18 years old. Applicants will be required to draft an artwork concept specific to Lower Manhattan, the borders of which, for our purposes, are south of Chambers Street, roughly from City Hall to the Battery, and from the East River to West Street. Submissions will be reviewed by ArtBridge, the Downtown Alliance and a yet-to-be-announced panel of judges.
If your work is selected, you’ll be paid $2,500 to turn the draft into a finalized design; for every site owner who chooses to utilize your work, ArtBridge will work with you to negotiate an artwork license contract between you and the site owner for additional payment. You will retain full ownership of the work IP, and production and installation costs will be fully covered.
You can find more details, guidelines and a full request for proposal on ArtBridge’s website. We’ll be accepting submissions through September 22.
