Throwing a book in the trash is sacrilege, but donating books and DVDs to those in need? That’s the good stuff. Instead of chucking your second copy of “The Da Vinci Code” and sending that “Old School” DVD to the Great Bygone Technology Trash Can in the Sky, box ‘em up and bring them to our upcoming book and DVD drive, which will be ongoing at ADNY’s visitor information kiosk at the southern entrance of Bowling Green Park throughout the month of June. All books and DVDs will be going to residents at various housing locations run by the Bowery Residents’ Committee (BRC), with whom we’ve been partnering for over a decade.
For the drive, we will accept paperback books only; we will also only be accepting fiction books (adult and YA books are fine, no children’s books please!). Movies must be in DVD format, so please leave your Blu-Ray discs at home. The book drive drop will be open Wednesdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more on BRC’s great work with the unhoused community in our district and beyond, visit their website.
