Celebrity chef Bobby Flay might be best known these days for his eminently entertaining Food Network show, “Beat Bobby Flay.” But right after 9/11, locals knew him as a hero. A New York native, Flay was one of a number of chefs in the city who spent nine months preparing meals for families of 9/11 victims and for workers at the Ground Zero site, providing much needed nourishment and comfort in an incredibly difficult time.
On Thursday, May 14, Flay heads to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum to talk about his experience with Alejandro Victoria, the museum’s vice president of people and culture. Hear his reflections on his experiences as he explores how food, culture and community provide healing and connection amid tragedy and trauma.
The event, which takes place in the museum’s auditorium, runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is free to attend. Reserve your spot here.
