Get Your Just Desserts (and Everything Else) at This Year’s Dine Around Downtown
May 28, 2024
The much-anticipated, always delicious Dine Around Downtown community food festival returns to Fosun Plaza at 28 Liberty St. on June 4, and this year you should really keep two words in mind: Treat yourself.
This year, downtown restaurants are going big on the desserts. As always, there’ll be dozens of savory bites from local eateries (all between $5 and $9), but for the sweet-toothed among us, there’ll be more options than ever.
Morton’s the Steakhouse (136 Washington St.), for instance, is best known for its filets and prime ribs, but at Dine Around, the restaurant’s after-dinner pineapple sherbet takes the main stage. At Pi Bakerie’s (35 Cedar St.) stand, Greek pastries will be available for purchase, plus you can satisfy your sweet cravings with a sample of pistachio baklava, a classic Greek after-meal delight. Meanwhile, Pi Bakerie offshoot the Cookie Odyssey (35 Cedar St.) is ready to throw down in the dessert category, with cookie offerings including chocolate chip, triple chocolate and banana. Eataly Downtown (101 Liberty St.) will take us all on a trip to Rome with gelato piccolo artigianale, and Stout FiDi (100 John St.) is ready to be the best coworker in the office kitchen by bringing creme brulee donuts.
Fraunces Tavern (54 Pearl St.) is keeping to its Revolutionary War era theme with a throwback traditional dessert: sticky toffee pudding. Meanwhile, Mah-Ze-Dahr at Hudson Eats (225 Liberty St.) is going big on Hudson sweets, offering up a cookie trio pack, as well as old-fashioned donuts and dark chocolate brownies.
Dine Around Downtown community food festival runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and is open to the public, with foods available for purchase a la carte. Visit our website for the full rundown on menus and more information.
