Celebrate Your Family’s Heritage by Adding a Name to the Ellis Island Wall of Honor

Gift-giving is a skill, but even the most skilled among us have that one family member who’s impossible to shop for. This holiday season, skip the unwieldy wrapping paper by adding a family name to the American Immigrant Wall of Honor on Ellis Island.

Located alongside the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration overlooking the Lower Manhattan skyline, this commemorative tribute wall was unveiled in 1990 and originally only included Ellis Island passenger names. Today, the wall is home to nearly one million names of American immigrants representing all eras, ethnicities, years of arrival, points of entry and modes of travel.

For each contribution of $300, a donor receives a single line inscription, which accommodates up to 40 characters including punctuation and spaces. All contributions support the Ellis Island Foundation’s mission to restore and preserve the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, including maintaining the American Immigrant Wall of Honor. Donations made throughout the calendar year will be installed the following summer (meaning if you purchased a name in 2024, you can plan a trip with your family to see it in summer 2025).

Learn more here about how you can give this personal, thoughtful and timeless gift of preserving your family’s legacy.
