July 15, 2025

If winter is for hibernating, by summer you’ve (theoretically) stored up more energy and motivation to move your body. But sometimes finding a studio to work on your fitness can feel like a city-sized effort. If all of this yang energy has you itching to try some new workouts this season but you don’t know where to start, read on to find 10 fitness studios in Lower Manhattan where you can get a great sweat.

Sweat440 (80 John St.) — This 40-minute interval class combines HIIT, cross-training, full-body routines and functional training. With classes starting every 10 minutes, it’s also one of the most convenient workouts.

Pure Barre (80 Pine St.) — There’s a reason Pure Barre has almost 600 studios across the country – the classic barre class is a delightfully tough blend of moves inspired by yoga, pilates and ballet. Most classes offered focus on small, low-impact movements that result in muscle lengthening and strengthening.

The Class (22 Park Pl., third floor) — The Class describes itself as a “music-driven somatic exercise method founded in 2011 by Taryn Toomey to regulate the nervous system and release stuck energy by moving the physical body.”

H.T.D. Boxing Gym (10 Fulton St.) —  At H.T.D. Boxing Gym, HIIT classes are a combination of boxing, core and conditioning in an intimate space along the charming cobblestone streets of the Seaport. Beginner, intermediate and advanced-level group classes are offered seven days a week in addition to open gym time and private lessons.

ID Hot Yoga (121 Fulton St., third floor) — If your preferred form of self care is hydrating just to sweat it out (and we’re not talking about unairconditioned subway cars), look no further than ID Hot Yoga. Rooted in ancient traditions, ID Hot Yoga will help you get your stretch on for a healthy body and clear mind.

Warrior Bridge (250 Front St.) — Located at the Seaport, Warrior Bridge offers mobility classes and acrobatic training focused on anatomy and body mechanics. For help mastering specific poses or types of poses, like handstands or backbends, join one of the classes tailored for these. And the studio also offers partner acro-yoga classes if you’re into that!

[solidcore] (20 Pine St.) — A classic for a reason, [solidcore] offers several Pilates core workouts on its special reformer machines for between 30 and 50 minutes of low-impact strength training. Choose your workout based on your familiarity with the class styles and if you want a full body burn or targeted for certain muscle groups.

Church Street Boxing Gym (25 Park Pl.) — Since 1997, Church Street has been one of the top boxing gyms in the city, offering western boxing, muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu classes and personal sessions with coaches tailored to your goals. Don’t be discouraged by the professional fights and wins under these coaches’ belts — beginners are welcome here, as are kids and teens.

Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (22 New St.) — Renzo Gracie, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA expert of Gracie family fame, founded the first location of this gym in 1996 in Midtown. The Wall Street location offers Jiu-Jitsu for everyone from beginners to experts, youth to adults. Training at this studio requires a complete uniform, including gi and belt — if you don’t have your own, you can rent them onsite.

Club Pilates (47 Murray St.) — This boutique Pilates studio offers reformer classes for all levels, from beginners to seasoned experts. And, to help you get the hang of the basics, your first class is free!
