It’s Five and Dime Somewhere: Four Must-Have Drinks at This Elegant Cafe

Coffee and alcohol is a holy alliance, one that allows for productivity at one point in the day and unwinding at another. Lower Manhattan’s Five and Dime (8 Park Pl.) unites the two under one roof, with an extensive caffeinated menu to get your day started when they open at 8 a.m., along with craft cocktails to keep you going until 11 p.m.

This summer, the sleek cafe that is housed within the historic Woolworth Building has good news for fans of both the espresso and martinis: Five and Dime is now open on Saturdays and Sundays, too. And here are four of their drinks to cross off your bucket list.

Hopelessly Inquisitive

This blue-gray number contains a bit of magic: it changes colors from a gray-cream into a shade of ocean blue when poured. It’s made with gin, creme de violette, St. Germain and lime.

Espresso martini

Five and Dime batch-brews espresso in advance of the morning rush — so you get the real deal when you order one of these trendy cocktails. The shop shuts down coffee service around 3 p.m. so you might find yourself ordering a martini just for that late-afternoon jolt. Other ingredients include Luksusowa vodka, espresso, Mr. Black coffee liqueur and demerara sugar.

Old fashioned

The classic cocktail is served in a tumbler glass with Evan Williams bourbon, demerara sugar and angostura bitters.

Aperol spritz

A simple, bright hit of the summertime, Five and Dime’s iteration comes with Aperol, prosecco and club soda.
