Welcome to the Jungle: Gitano NYC Is Now Open at the Seaport

You could book a very expensive trip to Tulum, or you could experience Tulum at the Seaport, thanks to the newly opened Gitano NYC at Pier 17.
The modern Mexican restaurant and lounge, which had a seasonal pop-up on Governors Island, debuted its first permanent location in the city at 89 South St. on March 6, bringing with it all the glorious trappings of the Yucatán. The 13,605-square-foot space is stocked with tropical plants, leopard-print decor, chandeliers, a giant disco ball and even tiles from Mexico, so you can really lean into the cross-cultural vibes. Menu items include tostadas, braised meats, tamales and more; and of course, there’s an excellent cocktail list, with drinks like the Jungle Fever (mezcal, cilantro, lime and jalapeno), the Gypsy Disco 75 (vodka, St. Germain, raspberry prosecco) and the Gitano Paloma (Casa Amigos Blanco, grapefruit cumin, soda) to start the party.
You can also expect late-night dancing and incredible views of the Brooklyn Bridge, plus you’ll be in the heart of the Seaport, offering easy access to Pier 17 concerts, shopping and more. For reservations and more info, visit Gitano NYC’s website.
