We Have a Winner! Pisillo’s Capri Panini Is Our March Madness Lunch Champion

After weeks of fierce competition and with hundreds of Lower Manhattan’s hungriest lunch goers weighing in to vote on their favorite midday spot, we’re pleased to announce that the neighborhood has finally made it official. Pisillo’s (97 Nassau St.) Capri panini is the March Madness Lunch Rush 2024 champion!

A hefty vegetarian option of smooth bufala mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, peppery arugula and E.V.O.O. on fresh bread, this sandwich deserves every ounce of praise it receives. The classic flavor combination is well-executed and authentically Italian, with all ingredients and condiments imported directly from Italy, according to Pisillo.

Husband and wife duo Carmelo Nazzaro and Antonella Silvio relocated from Italy in 2008 and have been serving delicious sandwiches to Lower Manhattanites for the last 12 years. As the shop’s website says, “Pisillo has been raved about for offering massive-sized panini sandwiches and giving customers bang for their hard earned bucks.” And for a satisfying, fresh sammy under $15 downtown, look no further than Pisillo’s Capri panini.

Here’s the final bracket:

Thanks to everyone who voted, and congrats to all the contenders — though we can only have one winner, we love each and every one of you. Be sure to check ‘em all out at lunchtime!
