153-year-old Seaport institution the Paris Cafe closed for renovations months ago, but thankfully now it’s back — and this time, with an inventive, more French menu. Quel délice!
The Paris Cafe, which opened at 119 South St. in 1873 and has served the likes of Bob Dylan, Lauren Bacall and Teddy Roosevelt, boasts a revamped Art Deco look that matches its now high-end menu. French delights like moules frites, escargot, oysters and (crucially) steak au poivre are sure to sate every Francophile and foodie. Signature cocktails like the Paris Cafe martini (premium vodka, provençal vermouth, maldon, EVOO), La Marsillaise (vodka, cucumber water, Citral, celery shrub, Ricard, ginger beer) and the Champs-Elysees (Remy-Martin 1738, bourbon, demerara, walnut, Cap Rouge, bitters) round out the theme.
As if the sleek new menu wasn’t enough to draw you to the Seaport, on Friday nights the Paris Cafe will transform into a veritable discotheque, hosting live (and cover-free) DJ sets starting at 8:30 p.m.
