The Seaport’s Free Rooftop Movie Series Is Back: Lineup Includes “Jaws,” “Step Up”

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Pier 17 has made the case for a pretty strong alternative: Seaport Cinema’s slate of free outdoor movies returns next month to the Rooftop at Pier 17. The picturesque al fresco theater is one of New York City’s finest perks, especially if you haven’t budgeted for a summer vacation on Amity Island. 

Starting June 12, you can catch a whole slew of free popcorn fare under the stars, backdropped by the Lower Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. Seating is limited, but you can bring your own blankets and chairs to secure a space on the lawn where additional food and drink (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) can be ordered.

Here’s the lineup: 

• Monday, June 12: “Air Bud” at 7:30 p.m. (RSVP; doors open at 6:30 p.m.) 
• Tuesday, July 15: “Jaws” 
• Wednesday, August 16: “Step Up”
• Thursday, September 21: “Pitch Perfect”
